Kids MealBox Project
Up to 3 Million children risk going hungry during school holidays,
leaving them vulnerable to malnutrition and undermining their education and life chances.
Coverdale & Newbank Kids MealBox Project is dedicated to tackling the growing " scandal "
of Child Holiday Hunger throughout Manchester.
It is estimated that throughout the UK, more than 3 Million families struggle with the added pressure and uneviable costs associated with feeding their children during the school holidays.
When the school holiday's begin,
The School Meals Stop !
Sadly this means for five days a week -
Children who would otherwise receive free school meals
and ordinary hard working families can't meet the sudden increased cost of rising shopping bills - so they simply go without food.
Imagine, not being able to feed your Child. .....
It simply is unimaginable isn't it !
Coverdale & Newbank Kids MealBox Project was established in the summer school holidays of 2016.
Since then we have introduced a range of Activities to complement the project.
Coverdale & Newbank Charity have helped to feed and distribute Free Meals During the School Holidays to
over ONE THOUSAND local Children in our Manchester community.
Moving forward ... We need your help !
The Coverdale & Newbank Kids MealBox Project - will begin again This Summer 2018 and continue to run every school holiday throughout the year.
Due to the growing demand of
Child Holiday Hunger and the increased uptake at food banks we have launched a Fundraising Page.

CHILD HOLIDAY HUNGER REPORT
A cross party group of MP's and peers cites evidence of children existing on diets of crisps when the school canteens are closed.
Up to 3 Million children risk going hungry during school holidays, leaving them vulnerable to malnutrition and undermining their education and life chances.
Holiday Hunger is a real problem for families who normally receive free school meals.
There is real concern that some families will struggle to meet the costs of feeding their children during the school holidays and evidence that shows food banks experience a peak in demand during school holidays.
In a recent report by MP's they said - those children at risk of hunger over the summer holidays include more than
1 million children who receive free school meals during term time and 2 million more with working parents who are still in poverty.
The Reports Chair - Frank Field MP says -
" The evidence presented in this report is staggering.
It shows us that not only are there children in this country who are exposed to hunger when they are not at school,
but also that this exposure risks damaging their prospects of gaining a good education and living a healthy life ".
